Job Description
Position Summary
Fisk University invites applications for a Full-Time Visiting Professor position in Finance and Banking within the Department of Business Administration. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated scholar to contribute to teaching, research, and service at one of the nation’s premier historically Black universities.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate education, maintain an active scholarly research agenda, and participate in departmental and university service. Some graduate-level teaching will also be available.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach a full-time course load (typically 12 credit hours per semester) in finance, economics, banking, agricultural economics, and related business subjects
- Prepare and deliver engaging, outcomes-driven learning experiences
- Develop course materials, including syllabi, assignments, assessments, and instructional content
- Evaluate and grade student work, and maintain academic records in accordance with university policies
- Teaching in various modalities including, face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online.
- Provide timely communication and academic support to students (e.g., responses to email within 24 hours)
- Participate in department meetings, academic advising, and committee service
- Engage in scholarly research and publication consistent with academic rank
- Engage with the banking community, the department chair of business, and Office of Institutional Advancement to provide engaging on campus and online events that support the Truist scholars program.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Finance, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Banking, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution (required)
Demonstrated potential or established record of scholarly research (required)
College-level teaching experience (preferred)
Strong commitment to undergraduate education and student development
Willingness to engage in service activities at the department, college, university, and community levels

Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to:
Sit, stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods
Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
Adjust focus and use visual abilities typical for office and classroom settings
Work Environment
The work environment is typically a classroom or office setting with moderate noise levels.
