Job Summary
Tenure-track faculty position in Criminal Justice, a two-person department; part of a strong social science division. Provide high quality and engaging instruction in freshman and sophomore courses in Criminal Justice and Conservation Law Enforcement and provide additional instruction of junior and senior-level courses in the BAS of Criminal Justice Studies program. Position requires a teaching load of the equivalent of 30 credits/year across all levels of courses.Priority is on excellent teaching including online instruction, synchronous delivery, along with advising, assessment, service, student recruitment, curriculum development, articulation with high school and university faculty and professional development activities. Essential Responsibilities & Duties
• Teach freshman through senior-level courses in Criminal Justice and Conservation Law Enforcement in face-to-face, online, Zoom, or a combination of modalities on campus and possible outreach settings• Provide high-quality, engaging instruction• Help coordinate the Criminal Justice Program, recommend, orient, and oversee adjunct instructors, recommend curriculum and degree requirements, and participate in program review and program articulation• Actively help with the recruitment of new majors (i.e. campus visits, emails, and telephone calls to prospective students)• Participate in networking and professional training with local, county, state and federal law enforcement• Assist in the ongoing development and assessment of curriculum• Develop course syllabi for assigned courses and effective varied instruction techniques that promote learning and address student achievement of expected learning outcomes• Evaluate student performance and achievement of course, program, and general education student learning outcomes• Recommend appropriate texts and teaching aids which will be of the most value to the teaching-learning process• Contribute to delivery of instruction using distance delivery methods• Assist with academic advising and other related activities to include:o Advise students and support students in program-related activities (including student trips and co-advising the Criminal Justice Student Club)o Post and observe office hours for the purposes of academic advising and student consultation. Hold office hours at times that support student success. Meet with students as needed by appointment.o Advise and assist students during the ongoing registration process.• Serve on College committees as requested, elected or assigned• Contribute to program, division and department meetings• Personal and professional development to include:o Maintain a high level of content knowledge and engage in ongoing professional development in relation to one’s field and teaching.o Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge and competence in the appropriate academic disciplines.• Demonstrate mutual respect and civility and coordinate activities to promote the highest level of student learning and productive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administration, and community members• Contribute to positive program articulations with schools and colleges• Contribute to the college-wide assessment of student learning outcomes• Actively participate in assisting the College in maintaining standards required for accreditation• Assist others on an as-needed basis• Participate in college activities

Required Training and Experience
• Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, or Master’s degree in a closely related field (i.e. psychology, sociology, political science) along with 18 graduate level credits in criminal justice studies, or a Juris Doctor (J.D.) with experience practicing criminal law and/or natural resource Law. Degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university. Applicants may be considered if degree is completed by August 2025.• A minimum of five years of documented experience in a criminal justice-related occupation• Evidence of ability and/or willingness for distance education delivery of courses utilizing online and other synchronous delivery platforms• Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and collaboratively within the department and division• Experience in promoting learning in and/or out of the classroom• Demonstrated commitment to assessment of student academic achievement• Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development
Preferred Training & Experience
• Work experience related to municipal, county, state, or federal law enforcement• College teaching experience in criminal justice at the undergraduate level• Experience serving as a Firearms Trainer or willingness to become a certified Firearms Instructor• Ability to use instructional technology in the classroom• Curriculum development experience• Experience in delivering distance education, hybrid and/or online courses• Proficiency in computer applications• Demonstrated understanding and a commitment to community college mission• Advising and student support experience
