Position Summary:

The LE Training Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and scheduling to provide basic, in-service, and career development training for the Piedmont Correctional Institute (PCI) Consortium group and Rowan and Cabarrus County Community Corrections. The consortium consists of PCI, Davidson Correctional Center, and Forsyth Correctional Center. This position is a permanent part-time position, and the coordinator can work up to 25 hours per week.


Required Education/Experience:

  • Two-Year Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Current Criminal Justice General Instructor Certification.
  • Five years of full-time work experience as a Law Enforcement or Corrections Officer.
  • Five years of teaching experience in N.C. Commission Mandated Courses.
  • Possess or willing to complete Department of Adult Corrections (DAC) instructor training.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

Experience with scheduling and coordinating In-Service training and
related documentation management.

3. Prepares, reviews, interprets, and analyzes a variety of information, applications, records, financial information, business correspondence, and reports; makes decisions based on findings.

4. Manages grant activities, which includes monitoring current grants, identifying grant opportunities, writing grant applications, and administering grant funding.

May supervise lower level employees, contract employees and/or student workers to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring workers are trained; ensuring that workers follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
