Job Description
The Montgomery College, Germantown Campus, is accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching Economics. We seek an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate engagingly. Faculty members teach both in person and online courses.

- The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion.
- During the academic year, part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 11.5 ESH (equivalent semester hour) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year.
- During summer, part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 10 ESH (equivalent semester hours) for both sessions combined.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains and demonstrates a high level of subject expertise in Economics.
- Delivers Economics courses and assesses student performance in alignment with the standards and goals of the Business and Hospitality department.
- Teaches a flexible schedule of courses, including options for day, evening, weekend, accelerated sessions, and distance learning.
- Designs comprehensive lesson plans and develops engaging instructional materials and activities to foster student learning and participation.
- Prepares and aligns course syllabi, outlines, and information sheets with Department and College guidelines.
- Establishes and upholds an engaging, supportive, and organized classroom environment through consistent attendance, grade tracking, and timely submission of departmental records.
- Collaborates with the department on student retention and completion strategies, including participation in Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) reports as needed.
- Employs innovative and effective teaching methodologies to enhance learning experiences.
- Integrates high-impact teaching practices into course structure, supporting active and applied learning.
- Participates in ongoing professional development focused on pedagogy and advancements in academic discipline.
- Exhibits strong time-management abilities, effectively prioritizing tasks and balancing multiple responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Economics or ABD/PhD in an Economics program.
- Minimum of 1 year experience teaching at college level.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, the community college philosophy and mission.
- Willingness and flexibility to teach course sections as needed.
- Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
- Ability to teach in a multicultural setting.

Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. *If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
