Job Description
HCC is seeking a customer service-oriented individual to provide support in the College’s Test Center. Duties include, but are not limited to, daily preparation of Testing Center front desk; checking in examinees; administering and proctoring computerized and paper tests; maintaining test security; answering email, phone and in-person inquiries; data entry and information retrieval from student information system; maintaining files and records; helping in troubleshooting computer-based testing; assisting in scheduling testing with accommodations; and providing support during peak enrollment periods.
The Testing Assistant may not be a student at any institution that offers ACCUPLACER tests, including Harford Community College, as it creates a conflict of interest and prevents completion of some job duties.
Applicants selected for interview are required to take a brief test of Microsoft Office programs and Internet proficiency.
As a condition of employment, this position requires participation in a Maryland State Retirement System plan.

Required Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Required Experience
Customer service experience and experience working with a diverse population are required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Basic computer skills in the MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel)
- Time management skills
- Attention to details
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in educational institution, test proctoring, providing testing with accommodations are preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

20
General Weekly Work Schedule
Assigned work hours will be up to 20 hours per week scheduled Monday to Thursday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.; Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; and occasional weekend-Saturday and evening hours, especially during peak enrollment periods. Hours may be reduced in between terms. Final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
