POSITION TITLE: Program Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The laboratory of Torben Schiffner is seeking a highly motivated and talented Program Manager to coordinate Alphavirus immunogen design, validation and testing. The Program Manager will work with scientific project leads in carrying out day-to-day project management functions across a range of vaccine antigen design projects. The Program Manager will utilize their project knowledge to prioritize and manage a complex protein production pipeline. The Program Manager will monitor the delivery of program milestones and support the project in the completion of required grant reporting, working alongside the senior scientific team and Principal Investigator. The Program Manager will create efficiencies for the scientific team through the implementation of and adherence to consistent project/program management processes and procedures. The Program Manager will work closely with researchers at Scripps as well as researchers at other academic research laboratories and collaborating global institutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
This project involves:
- With the scientific teams, work on deadlines in the completion of project and programmatic reporting, including the establishment of scientific workplans and completion of regular reports, as required by funding organizations.
- Schedule and plan agendas for routine and ad-hoc project meetings.
- Maintain notes and actions from project meetings, following up with scientific leads and/or collaborating research institutions to ensure actions are well prioritized and completed in a timely manner.
- With the scientific teams, work to establish and document project timelines.
- With the scientific teams, ensure projects are progressing as planned and remain on track.
- Work with a range of internal and external partners to provide subject matter expertise in support of the development and execution of agreements and other legal documentation necessary to enable project delivery.
- With the scientific teams, maintain up-to-date and accessible presentation and overview materials documenting the outputs of funded HIV vaccine projects.
- With the scientific teams, work with the scientific team to liaise with external investigators and collaborators to fulfill internal and external program information requests.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
- Minimum of four years' experience in project management and/or leadership, managing scientists and engineers to develop technical solutions to scientific problems.
- Demonstrated experience working with a diverse set of colleagues, including scientists, engineers, usability researchers, and engagement managers with a variety of backgrounds.
- Strategic and analytical thinking
- Strong oral and written communications skills coupled with effective interpersonal and collaboration skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position works in an office environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.
LOCATION: La Jolla, California.
COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
