DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, provide a variety of difficult and responsible Human Resources technical and administrative support for the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and evaluation of staff, faculty, and administrators. Additionally, provide administrative and operational support for the Human Resources Department, Director, and professional staff. The Human Resources Assistant reports to the Director of Human Resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitor and follow up to ensure timely completion of new hire and onboarding processes for new employees.

Assist with the HR systems management including updates, system account creation, user training, and troubleshooting.

Ensure timely completion of required training and paperwork.

Assist in posting job openings on college websites, job boards, and other platforms.

Screen resumes and applications, ensuring they meet minimum qualifications.

Maintain records of recruitment activities.

Coordinate and support faculty, staff, and administrator performance evaluation processes.

Track completion of evaluations, follow up as needed, and maintain records of performance evaluations.

Maintain accurate personnel files for all employees.

Generate reports on employee demographics, turnover, and other HR metrics.

Manage DOT requirements for employees subject to the regulations.

Assist with new employee orientation, organizing HR events, workshops, and training sessions.

Answer phone calls and emails related to HR inquiries.

Handle confidential information with discretion.

Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours.
- Basic Knowledge of human resources practices.
- One (1) year of experience in a human resource setting or one (1) year of experience handling human resources functions as most of the daily tasks
- Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication abilities (verbal and written).
- Ability to adhere to privacy regulations and policies.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Understanding of recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation processes.
- Awareness of employment laws and regulations.
- Two or more years of experience in human resource administration.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems (e.g., Paycom, Workday, PeopleSoft).
- Experience in recruitment, onboarding, or employee relations.
ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS:
- The work environment is an office setting with moderate noise.
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
