Job Description Summary

The Lawrence W. Tyree Library seeks a part-time Librarian to provide reference services and information literacy instruction. The Tyree Library is a vibrant, dynamic work environment that supports the college and curriculum with knowledgeable staff, appropriate resources and an environment that promotes user success and life-long learning. The reference staff is a collaborative team, working with all library departments as well as throughout the college. The ideal candidate is flexible, enjoys variety in work projects, and is willing to work both on a team and individually.

 

Job Description

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Provide library reference services in-person, by phone, email, chat, and Zoom.
  • Assist patrons with and help troubleshoot library and college technologies.
  • Provide information literacy instruction on-site, online, and at Santa Fe College educational centers.
  • Assist with and initiate projects throughout the library.
  • Assist with outreach and public relations activities in collaboration with all staff during library events.
  • Participate in department and college meetings and activities as appropriate.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends, as well as extended hours during exam weeks.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Engage in appropriate professional development and college service activities.
  • Comply with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
  • Assist other library departments, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Director, Library

Qualifications

Required: An ALA-accredited master's degree in Library and Information Science and two (2) years of related library work experience is required. 

Preferred: Related work experience in an academic library setting; teaching experience strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
  • Ethics – able to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, civility, and a high degree of ethics in all job-related actions.
  • Detail Oriented - Proven accuracy and attention to detail.
