Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact through your HR expertise? Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Director to join our dynamic team.
The Human Resources Director develops and executes HR strategies that support the organization's plans, mission and strategic direction. The HR Director oversees the Human Resources department, providing leadership and direction to ensure the effective management of the HR team. This includes areas of talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, and compensation. The HR Director manages remote work complexities, develops and implements HR policies, and ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
The responsibilities include:
Strategic HR Leadership
- Develops and implements HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Develops and implements HR policies and procedures that reflect best practices and compliance requirements.
- Provides guidance and support to HR staff, ensuring alignment with company goals and strategies.
- Serves as a strategic partner to the Chief People Officer and executive team, providing insights and recommendations on HR matters.
Compensation Structure & Administration
- Oversees the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs, ensuring they align with the company's strategic objectives and are competitive within the industry.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local compensation and benefits regulations including FLSA and other relevant regulations.
- Provides guidance on salary structures, pay scales, and compensation adjustments.
- Monitors and analyzes compensation trends and market data to ensure the organization's compensation practices remain competitive and equitable.
- Develops and manages incentive programs, performance-based pay, and other compensation-related initiatives.
- Collaborates with management to create and maintain job classifications and compensation plans that support business goals and objectives.
- Prepares and presents reports on compensation metrics and trends to senior leadership.
Talent Management & Workforce Planning
- Monitors data related to hiring and retention, recognizing any negative trends and developing mitigation strategies that lead to improvement.
- Develops and implements recruitment strategies to attract and retain strong and diverse talent.
- Collaborates with internal recruiters and management to address hiring challenges and optimize recruitment efforts.
- Designs and executes talent management programs, including succession planning and leadership development.
- Implements performance management systems to drive high performance and employee development.
- Conducts workforce analysis to identify gaps, helps to forecast future talent needs, and works with leadership to develop strategies to address these needs.
- Consults with managers and department leaders to develop strategic workforce plans to ensure the organization has the right talent in place to meet its current and future needs.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Manages employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to managers and employees.
- Develops strategies for handling unemployment claims and other employment-related disputes.
- Works through complex legal issues, minimizing the need for external legal counsel.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensures compliance with all relevant employment labor laws and regulations.
- Manages HR-related risks and implements policies and procedures to mitigate them.
- Oversees the management of non-compete, non-disclosure, and severance agreements.
- Provides guidance on regulatory matters and maintains up-to-date knowledge of HR-related legislation. Consults with outside counsel as needed.
HR Project Management & Other Duties
- Leads HR-related projects and strategic planning projects, particularly those related to the ongoing merger.
- Ensures timely completion of projects and integration activities.
- Utilizes project management skills to oversee HR initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
- Represents the HR department at company meetings, conferences, and events, effectively communicating HR initiatives and strategies to diverse audiences in collaboration with the Chief People Officer.
- Supports presentation and training session initiatives on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
This is not a remote position. Some travel required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, at least 3-5 years in a leadership role required. Experience in healthcare HR preferred, with a broad industry background highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute effectively.
- Proficiency in HRIS and other HR software applications.
- SHRM or HRCI certification is highly desirable. If not currently certified, must obtain within one year in the role.
