The Life Engineering Lab at NC State invites applications for a newly-created Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in our bacteriophage engineering program. This position will contribute to several ongoing projects in the areas of microbial engineering and phage ecology. Our goal is to adapt breakthrough technologies, such as CRISPR DNA editing, to plant and insect pathosystems.
We are looking for a candidate who is motivated and able to work independently. This position will be responsible for coordinating with group members both on and off campus so excellent communication skills are a must.

- Design and implement experiments in conjunction with the existing team of collaborators
- Support research plant and insect maintenance/production
- Collect, analyze and communicate data
The position is available immediately and is located at a USDA facility in Mission, Texas.
All hired incumbents must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residency.
As part of the Land Grant University, the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University is composed of over 40 faculty that direct a diverse portfolio of programs in teaching, research, and extension. Entomology and Plant Pathology houses the Plant Disease and Insect Clinic, the Larry Grand Mycological Herbarium, Micropropagation and Repository Unit, Structural Pest Management Training Facility, an Insect Museum with 1.9 million vouchered insects, and the Center for Integrated Fungal Research.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pmDepartment Required Skills
- PhD in Entomology, Plant Pathology, Microbiology, or related fieldawarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment.
- Familiarity with modern cloning and DNA engineering techniques.
- Demonstrated written communication skills through peer-reviewed publications.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
- Experience with plant-associated microbes, genomics, fastidious microbes, tripartite disease systems, and insect rearing.
