Research Assistant
Job Description
The Department of Neurology is seeking a Research Assistant for an NIH-funded project that will conduct research on the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in neurodegenerative disease, specifically PPA and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) in the Language Neuromodulation Lab.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Contact potential participants and coordinate their record acquisition.
- Perform language/cognitive evaluations, maintain and manage imaging databases, perform preprocessing of data in different imaging modalities including EEG data, perform cognitive/language assessments, statistical analyses, computerize experimental tasks, and develop coding for data analysis.
- Conduct behavioral assessments for participants with language and cognitive deficits, maintain databases, perform statistical analyses
- Evaluate participants in a range of standardized language and cognitive tasks, delivering a pre-determined speech and language training session, archiving language, cognitive and therapy results, maintaining patients’ files, and analyzing oral and written therapy data.
- Present research at conferences and assist in writing papers.
- Work collaboratively with undergraduate and doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, speech-language pathologists, and other faculty members of the Johns Hopkins community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Computational and coding skills are preferred.
- Prior experience with people with EEG or MRI research are highly desirable.
- Comfortability working with patients with neurodegenerative syndromes.

Starting Salary Range: $17.25 - $30.30 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
