The Managing Director of Executive Compensation & Strategic Programs is a people leadership role with 3 reporting managers and team size of ~25 total employees. The role has three key buckets of responsibility: Global Executive Compensation, Global Strategic Programs and matrixed Compensation support for back office functional, organizations. This leader will interface with multiple levels of leadership up to and including the FedEx C-Suite; collaborate with key internal partners including Strategic Finance, Legal and the broader Total Rewards and People teams.
Job Description:
- Responsible for teams involved in all aspects of human resources.
- Provides consulting services to senior management on a variety of HR issues.
- Provides cost/benefit analyses of HR programs and works with finance, legal and other support areas to ensure effective implementation of strategies and programs.
- Aligns with executive management in various business units to proactively understand needs and issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree/equivalent. In lieu of degree, a relevant Associate's with two years of relevant experience or four years of relevant experience will be accepted. A relevant Master's degree will be equivalent to two years of experience.
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) years experience including successful management in one or more of the following areas: recruitment, compensation, employee relations/resolutions, diversity and inclusion, learning and development, enterprise project management, employee benefits, organization effectiveness, workforce strategy, enterprise systems, and enterprise research/analytics.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in HR, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
- Master’s degree and/or compensation certification a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in compensation, with at least 7 years in executive compensation, and 3 years in managerial roles.
- Demonstrated strong communication and influencing skills evidenced through experience partnering with senior level executives across HR, Finance, Legal, and the C-suite to implement new plans and/or changes to existing plans.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
Executive Compensation
- Develops and leads the execution of corporate and global compensation programs and projects that align with the organization's overall business goals and legal and regulatory requirements.
- Works closely with the Head of Total Rewards, Chief People Officer, and legal teams to develop and prepare materials including agenda, analysis, reports, and presentations, for the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Contributes to the proxy data analysis and disclosures, ensuring all requirements are met.
- Work closely with the broader HR and Leadership teams to develop and implement a strategy that delivers a competitive mix of cash and equity elements of total compensation.
- Effectively communicate and provide education and training material to support compensation programs and processes.
- Review the design of the organization’s short-term incentive bonus and long-term incentive equity plans and ensure they are fit for purpose and market competitive.
- Provide consultation and recommendations on executive compensation for all Directors and above organization wide and evaluate all market data for executive positions.
- Lead the compensation reporting and analysis function to drive quality, data integrity, auditing, and accuracy for compensation programs and decisions.
- Manage the processes and act as the subject matter expert to ensure effective coordination of all activities between payroll, HRIS, accounting, treasury, and legal.
Global Strategic Programs
- Compensation lead for the global Annual Compensation Incentive (AIC) plan as well as overall cyclical compensation processes, systems and reporting.
- Owns global Rewards & Recognition strategy and planning.
- Leads overall Compensation technology and analytics strategy.
- Develops and maintains relationships with external partners, such as compensation consultants. Monitors service levels and assesses the value of outsourced services.
Matrixed Compensation Support
- Work with aligned People teams to support back office/support departments (including Marketing, Sales, IT, HR, Finance, Legal) in regards to ongoing and new compensation needs (e.g. job descriptions, job titles)
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education
