Responsibilities:
* Perform complex spine surgeries, including reconstructions, traumatic spine care, and minimally invasive procedures
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, and radiologists to provide comprehensive care to patients with spine disorders
* Develop and implement evidence-based care pathways and clinical practice guidelines for spine surgery patients
* Participate in the American Spine Registry, a national quality improvement registry for spine care
* Collect and analyze performance measurement data on surgical site infection rates, new neurological deficits, unplanned return visits to the operating room, and pre-operative and post-operative patient reported outcomes
* Participate in educational and research activities, including teaching and mentoring residents and fellows, and contributing to the advancement of spine surgery through research and publication
* Participate in research activities, including clinical trials and basic science research, to advance the field of spine surgery.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, DO or MD/PhD in health-related fields.
Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery.
Candidates must have completed a fellowship program in Spine Surgery by the time of start of the appointment.
Candidates with at least 2 years of experience in complex spine reconstructions, traumatic spine injuries, and minimally invasive spine surgery are preferred.
