Post-doctoral research position on EV neurobiology

A post-doctoral research fellow position is available to study the forefront of EV biology in neurobiology. The laboratory aims to discover new biological concepts that can be harnessed to develop therapeutic strategies for psychiatry and neurological disorders.

The fellow will work on brain-periphery communication via EV and related particles using rodent models. The successful candidate is expected to be strong in communication and analytical skills, self-motivated and success-driven, and able to work as a team member and an independent scholar. An ideal candidate is within two years of their Ph.D. or equivalent degree and show a record of scientific creativity and productivity (e.g., first-author peer-reviewed original research articles).

The candidate will be exposed to the following skills to conduct their projects. Expertise in at least one of these skills will be preferred:

-- EV biology (e.g., EV isolation, characterization, quantification, molecular profiling with RNA-seq and proteomics)

-- Bioinformatics skills (e.g., RNA-seq or scRNA-seq analysis with R)

-- Behavioral biology (e.g., social interaction, memory task)

-- Neurobiology (e.g., in vivo calcium imaging, optogenetics/chemogenetics, electrophysiology)

All Kano lab members are expected to constantly learn new research skills and concepts, openly share and discuss their data, and achieve their scientific and career goals, in close communication with the PI. The position will be initially available for one year, with yearly renewal, based on the performance and funding availability. The successful candidates are encouraged to apply for independent fellowships for her/his future career development.
