The RoleAs we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Facilities Technician III. The purpose of this position is to schedule, perform, and oversee the maintenance, operation, and repair of facilities equipment. This position also manages contractors and services associated with scheduled maintenance as well as conducting emergency repairs and replacement of equipment and components.
This position requires taking ownership of assignments directed at improving total operating efficiency, minimizing equipment downtime and improving internal administrative processes. This position also requires documentation support to assure that documents such as validations, standard operating procedures and preventive maintenance tasks are current and accurate for the assigned equipment and processes. This position will coordinate and oversee outside maintenance contractor
This position may require lead responsibilities that include mentoring less experienced personnel, coordinating shift assignments, generating work schedules, and supporting administrative activities.
This position will be located onsite in San Diego, CA.
The ResponsibilitiesPerforms routine preventative maintenance on facilities equipment, central plant equipment, lyophilizers, refrigerators and freezers utilizing maintenance software system.
Coordinating efforts with outside vendors and contract service providers to accomplish objectives.
Supports Facilities Work Requests and following up on request status, providing internal customers with estimations of completions.
Responds to and documents internal alarms from the "Process Alarm Monitoring System".
Managing system configuration and maintenance to support data channel additions / deletions.
Supporting documentation and administrative requirements.
Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.
Required skills:
High school diploma or equivalent
Universal certification in refrigerant handling to be obtained within one year from date of hire
Must have valid driver's license, with desirable rating
Minimum 3 to5 years of experience working with general facilities equipment, production equipment and systems
Experience with hand and power tools and their associated safety procedures
Experience conducting or supervising routine building/grounds maintenance
Experience working in high paced manufacturing environment
Understanding and application of safety procedures
Use of communication, cooperation and interpersonal skills
Documentation skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently
Basic computer skills including file management, MS Word, and preventative maintenance software
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of QSR/ISO 9001
Experience working in GMP/ISO manufacturing environment preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience with all electrical applications up to 480 volts preferred
HVAC/Refrigeration trade schools or course certifications preferred
Technical Degree or equivalent experience in related field preferred
Internal: Production Leads, Operators, and internal team members such as Manufacturing Engineers, Quality and Production Managers. This position interacts with all levels of the company from the CEO to the staff on the production floor and throughout the labs
External: External contractors and vendors.
The Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics are representative of an office, manufacturing, laboratory, and warehouse environment and may include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues and samples. Up to 75% of time at desk, standing or sitting extended periods of time. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.
Must be able to walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crawl around and on top equipment, and above ceiling space, for periods of up to 15 minutes.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from the ground to 4 feet on occasion.
Moderate Lifting (up to 50 lbs.), pushing, pulling, moving, (furniture, equipment, machinery).
Heavy lifting of equipment exceeding 50 lbs. with assistance from others and mechanical lifting equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must have adequate vision correctable by regular corrective lenses for color coded electrical wiring.
Walking and conducting physical activities associated with completing equipment repair/replacement.
Extreme physical activities as associated with large equipment/furniture relocation.
Position requires use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted.
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $ 42,900.00 - 79,000.00.
