Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Assistant Professor –Electrical Engineering

Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno, Department of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering, is seeking candidates for a full-time research assistant professor position with a preferred start date of 9/1/2023. The position is offered for an initial term of 1 year with the opportunity for extension and is contingent upon funding. Candidates with experience in the development of wireless power transfer and energy harvesting systems, skills in graphene, antennas, electronics, cellular phone systems, IoT communications, additive manufacturing of electronics, 3d printer ink design, waveguide, and fiber devices, PCB fabrication, SMT pick and place, and electronics chip design at microwave and THz frequencies are encouraged to apply. The candidate will work on Rectification Devices for Quantum Radiation Harvesting (QRH) with modified metal-insulator-metal (MIM) diodes to achieve higher terahertz (THz) range cutoff frequencies. Required Qualifications

· This specific position is only open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents due to the funding requirements.

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.

· The applicant has a strong semiconductor and device physics background with fabrication/characterization skill sets.

  • The applicant must have a working knowledge of microwave engineering, antennas, noise, heat radiation, and electronics. The applicant should have good written and oral communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a group.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A strong publication record and presentation experience at industry conferences
  • Industry work experience and proven ability to lead technical teams
