About the Pet Cancer Foundation

The Pet Cancer Foundation’s vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Estimates suggest that 12M dogs and cats are developing cancer every year, roughly 6x the number of humans getting cancer yearly within North America. We need to do more for our furry friends, and we're building a large team of distributed, animal-loving passionate volunteers to help them and their families.

Over the past 24 months, the organization has grown to a team of over 300 volunteers working virtually across the United States and Canada. As we work to become the leading non-profit organization in the field of animal cancer, we plan to more than double in size over the next 12 months. We're searching for highly organized and detail-oriented HR Coordinators to support assigned business units. This is where and how you can help us.

About the Position

The volunteer HR Coordinator Leader to join our team. The HR Coordinator will be responsible performing administrative tasks, maintaining volunteer personnel records, and conducting background screenings. The HR Coordinator will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent organizational and time management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative tasks, such as online filing and data entry.
  • Maintain volunteer personnel records, including creating and updating files, tracking required training, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
  • Conduct background screenings and maintain related documentation.
  • Assist with the recruitment process by posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate communication.
  • Process new volunteer paperwork and ensure all required documents are completed for each volunteer.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and orientation, including scheduling and conducting new hire orientations and training sessions.
  • Provide support to HR management and other departments as needed.

About You

You are a detail-oriented and organized individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent organizational and time management skills. You are motivated and passionate about your work, with a desire to make a positive impact on the organization and its volunteers. You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in an administrative or HR support role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
