Job Description

DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY’s Brennan School of Business is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor of Accounting for the 2024-2025 academic year, beginning August 2024. The standard teaching load for this position is 21 credit hours, which corresponds to seven courses during the academic year at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates with specializations in all areas of accounting – financial, managerial, tax, auditing, data analytics - will be considered.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
  • Candidates must have a PhD in Accounting (or PhD in business with a concentration in Accounting) or a related field from an AACSB accredited institution is required. ABD candidates will also be considered, if evidence is provided that a doctoral degree will be conferred before August 2024.
  • The candidate should demonstrate the ability or potential for teaching in any accounting area.
  • The candidate should also have established a research and scholarly agenda, demonstrating the ability or potential to produce quality peer reviewed journal articles (e.g., ABDC list) and other intellectual contributions.
  • Required qualifications also include the ability to advise undergraduate students and serve on university and college committees.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses is preferred.
  • Experience teaching students from diverse populations and demonstrated experience creating or leading undergraduate accounting programs is preferred.
  • A background in creating and implementing experiential learning projects in accounting is preferred, but candidates with all backgrounds will be considered.
  • Professional designations (e.g., CPA, CMA) are also preferred.
  • The ability to advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students is preferred.
