Visitor Experience Representative
Job Description
VISITOR EXPERIENCE REPRESENTATIVE, MIT Museum, to welcome all visitors to the Museum, service admissions using mobile ticketing system, provide information, monitors visitors in the museum galleries, and help to ensure the safety and security of visitors as well as the museum. This role primarily involves being situated within galleries and at the front desk on a rotating schedule.

A high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of customer service experience in a hospitality, retail, entertainment, or cultural organization; excellent computer/digital skills; must enjoy contact with the public, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to project a positive image of the museum; ability to work in a busy environment and handle multiple tasks, be able to adapt to whatever customer needs arise, and address them effectively and courteously; sound judgment and ability to take initiative quickly to resolve any issues, including those that are safety or security related.
Schedule requires standing and moving about public areas of the museum for most of the day. Personal cell phone use is not allowed in this public-facing position. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Must be able to work weekend day(s), holidays, and occasional evenings staffing museum events.
May deal with confidential information and/or issues requiring discretion and judgment.
College education and interest in or knowledge of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and technology) is preferred, as is knowledge of POS and online ticketing systems, experience handling cash and fluency in other languages in addition to English. Job #24734-3
